Honolulu International ofrece cuatro pistas y sirve como base práctica para vuelos de isla en isla por Hawaii. No hay tasas de aterrizaje ni de estacionamiento en ninguna de las islas. El aeropuerto cuenta con ATC y personal de tierra amables, y brinda oportunidades de entrenamiento IFR en condiciones IMC reales debido a la nubosidad frecuente sobre la costa de barlovento y las cordilleras. Espere vientos cruzados moderados según la estación y la hora del día, con un espacio aéreo generalmente concurrido en un entorno tropical.
